Why Google+ failed, according to Google insiders
Isn’t the easiest reason to understand why Google+ failed is that it simply had no use? We had Facebook for our social network, we had LinkedIn for trying to find a job, Instagram for pictures (and Snapchat was on the way for kids). We missed long form posting I guess but Google+ didn’t go that way and now Medium is taking that role.
So why did it fail? It had no vision about what it should be.
The rest is all internal politics and every company has those. Cafeterias? Departure of an exec? Those things happen to every project. If the idea and execution are good then it might succeed. But a late, me-too, wishy-washy product with no point of view… sure, that could work.
